Selection for the awards is done through careful research about important factors such:

The MSME classification is based on investment in plant & machinery/equipment (for manufacturing) or turnover (for services). The Government of India recently revised the MSME Development Act, expanding the definition to include:

- Small Enterprises: Investment up to ₹10 crore, Turnover up to ₹50 crore
